NT219, a new compound discovered by a joint collaboration between Hebrew university of Jerusalem and TyrNovo ( biotech start-up ) protects the brain from neurodegenerative diseases through selective inhibition of aging process.Certainly, this new compound has great potential in development of drugs for neurodegenerative diseases

You can read the paper that revealed the discovery published in journal Aging Cell titled "A novel inhibitor of the insulin/IGF signaling pathway protects from age-onset, neurodegeneration-linked proteotoxicity".

    Points to note:
    1. Inhibition of IGF1 pathway has therapeutic value with respect to neurodegenerative diseases
    2. NT219 is the first known compound that can provide protection from neurodegeneration-associated toxic protein aggregation through a selective manipulation of aging.
